Chudleigh Ath 2

Saturdays game was a bit of a pick-me-up from previous games although we still went away without points on our return home match with Chudleigh Ath.

Chudleigh took an early lead on eight minutes when we got caught out at the back with the loose ball falling nicely to be struck home from just 12yds. 0 - 1.

Another mix up at the back lead to Chudleigh's second on 28mins with two Chudleigh players beating the off side trap. The build up was from a throw in up the line, the ball then crossed for the two to beat the off side trap and score from 18yds. 0 - 2.

Two goals down with half time looming wasn't looking good for us especially when we had the wind in our faces to look foreward to in the second half, then Jamie Clifford popped up on 45mins to header a beauty in just before then end of the first half. 1 - 2.

HALF TIME

Although the second half was baron of goals we played really well and put Chudleigh under great pressure for long periods and were the better side against the wind with Jamie Clifford and Chinkie working well up front. All in all conditions were bad for our boys at the back in the first half having to deal with the wind, but I feel we played the better game and deserved all the points.

FINAL SCORE: NEWTON UTD 1. CHUDLEIGH ATH 2.

M.O.T.M. Jamie Clifford.
